Sakaal Social Foundation

The Sakaal Media Group has a long standing commitment towards philanthropic services to community since 1932. This group of publications operates in the spirit of idealism and dedication to nation-building activities. The Sakaal’s vision of constructive philanthropy has always been sensitive to the fast-growing needs of a developing nation like India. The multiple activities and programmes initiated by this group of publications are found to be relevant as it continues to support and promote innovative voluntary endeavours and enterprises for the development of our society.

The Sakaal Group recognizes the need to promote Private-Public partnerships with well defined roles and processes for the best use of resources to effect social change and help strengthen basic values of society.

The Sakaal group realizes its responsibility as a media house to play a catalytic role in focusing and highlighting some of the civic or developmental issues faced by urban or rural societies in cities and towns of Maharashtra.
The SSF aims to work with credible NGOs or federation of NGOs working in the field in this regard.

MAJOR ISSUES BEING ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNED FOR ARE:

Rural Poverty & Rural Employment : Highlighting issues relating to rural poverty and promoting rural employment through agricultural development and agro-industries.

Quality of Primary Education : Promoting the quality education in primary schools through co-ordination with government functionaries, teachers and the society.

Supporting Voluntary Endeavours : Promoting voluntary endeavours by NGOs in different parts of Maharashtra through media and mustering support for some of the actions from industry, government, etc.

Co-ordination for Disaster Management : Promoting co-ordination among government, semi-government and non-government agencies, organizations, institutions for the purpose of effectively dealing with natural calamities or disasters in Maharashtra. This will be a step ahead of Sakaal’s long standing initiative in providing relief to the victims of disaster affected people through Sakaal’s Relief Fund.

Strengthening Governance for Development : It is necessary for the media house like Sakaal to be vigilant about implementation of various development schemes and programmes run by government departments. At the same time, it can also work as a pressure group with a view to creating more awareness in people in this regard. Similarly, Sakaal Social Foundation can impress upon government to bring in relevant changes in its policies relating to welfare programmes for the larger good of society.
